GRAPHICO-PHONETIC VARIABILITY OF THE OLD TATAR LANGUAGE IN THE WRITTEN RECORDS OF THE KHANATE OF KAZAN

Abstract. Written sources are particularly valuable for the study of the most complete picture of language status in the certain periods of its functioning. Researchers applying to the history of the Tatar people of the XV-XVI centuries testify for lack of extant sources of this period. Among the extant written records of the XV-XVI centuries we can mention fiction, yarlyki, epitaphic monuments, scientific works and glossaries. The paper investigates the variational elements of graph-phonetics of the old Tatar language in the written records of the Khanate of Kazan. Analysis of linguistic sources of the investigated period testifies that the majority of them are characterized by the variability of language elements.
