Abstract. The article considers the novel of American writer Ayn Rand "Atlas Shrugged", the world best-seller, in the context of popular literature from the perspective of romance novel genre. The article gives the characteristics of A. Rand’s creative method as a romantic one, reveals her own understanding of romanticism finds the similarities and differences between romance plots in the novel and the stereotypes of popular literature and, as the result, defines the correlation between the novel and popular literature.
