Abstract. The article traces the chronology of foreign women’s magazines origin from the XVI th century till the present. Special attention is paid to the problem-content sense of gender press, the major thematic aspects, as well as the functional parameters of the periodicals under consideration. The polygraphic parameters of women’s periodicals, the typology of formative features are determined: publishing goals and guidelines, as well as the tasks of the media, and the needs of the actual and real audience.
