FEATURES OF QUALITATIVE PARAMETERS AND SYNTACTIC BEHAVIOUR OF QUANTIFIERS OF INDEFINITELY-BIG AND INDEFINITELY-SMALL QUANTITY IN THE MODERN ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract. The concept "QUANTITY", along with the concepts "TIME", "SPACE", "QUALITY", has common to all mankind and universal nature. These concepts are central to the whole concept sphere and are coded in the language through various grammatical and lexical means. Quantifiers are one of quantitative relations "embodiment" in the language. The present study is devoted to the quantifiers of indefinite quantity. The author pays special attention to the critical analysis of such notions as "quantity", "quantification", "quantitative metaphor", "grammaticalisation".
