PROBLEM OF SELECTING VERB-PREDICATE NUMBER FORM IN PROCESS OF ITS AGREEMENT WITH QUANTITATIVE NOUN PHRASES

Abstract. This article considers the current problem in modern linguistics of quantitative noun phrases agreement with a verb-predicate according to the category of number in the Russian and English languages. Considerable attention is paid to the existing classifications of agreement types. The author seeks to trace the influence of agreement conditions on its type. The main content of this research is the analysis of the theoretical literature by contemporary authors, their views and conceptions on this problematics.
