FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICS OF TERMS (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE AZERBAIJANI LANGUAGE)

Abstract. The article is devoted to the functional peculiarities of terms. The material represented in the paper is analyzed on the basis of the Azerbaijani language. In spite of the fact that functions of terms are interpreted differently in different sources it should be mentioned that the most important function of a term is its informativity and nominativeness, in other words, the basic function of a term is a function of storing, transmitting and exchanging scientific information. Emotional function of a term is relevant particularly in literary texts. Functioning of terms depends on the activation of lexemes, and this process is closely connected with extra-linguistic factors.
