MOTIF OF FRESH AIR AND SPIRITUAL REVIVAL OF RASKOLNIKOV IN NOVEL "CRIME AND PUNISHMENT"

Abstract. The motif of air is present in the novel "Crime and Punishment". The aim of the work is to identify the semantic content of metaphors of freshness and fresh air in "Crime and Punishment". The novelty of the work is in the fact that the article for the first time studies metaphors of freshness and fresh air, relying on similar metaphorical models in periodicals of the 60s of the XIX century. A large number of publications of the 60s of the XIX century, which have never been used for commenting "Crime and Punishment", are used. As a result it is ascertained that metaphors of freshness and fresh air, accompanying the image of a main hero, are associated with the initiation of Raskolnikov to the moral values ??of the people.
