ETIQUETTE MODEL OF GRATITUDE IN THE ENGLISH AND RUSSIAN LINGUO-CULTURES

Abstract. The author refers to the real processes of communication, in particular, to the etiquette model of gratitude in the British and Russian linguo-cultures and the stratification of speech etiquette as a marker of interpersonal relations. Etiquette communication is a vital and eternal theme, which acquires a new meaning now under the conditions of intercultural contacts intensification. The paper presents the analysis of etiquette behaviour in the genre of "gratitude" of official and everyday levels. The author comes to the conclusion that conventional forms of expressing gratitude and reactions to it have in many respects similar semantics and pragmatics in both linguo-cultures, however, a significant difference is observed in these cultures in "who" thanks "who", "where" and "for what".
