Abstract. The article considers the problem of teaching Russian as a foreign language to students on the main courses in the military engineering higher education establishment. The author pays attention to the fact that a foreign language communicative competence, formed at the previous stages of learning the Russian language, is greatly complemented by the professional component associated with the direction of training and further specialization of foreign military men.
