CONTRAST AS THE IMMANENT PROPERTY OF FAIRY TALE GENRE

Abstract. This article considers a number of questions related to such literary genre as a fairy tale. The author touches upon the problem of differentiation of folklore and literary fairy tale, the definition of a literary fairy tale, the emphasizing of its genre-determinative traits, such as the reliance on folk traditions, the combination of the real and the fantastic, the presence of author’s image, the narrative character, and special compositional and stylistic construction. In connection with the last-mentioned feature the question about the organization of the fantastic text on the principle of contrast that acts as an immanent property of works of this kind is raised.
