Abstract. The article is devoted to the motivation problem of students’ self-guided work when reading in a foreign language. The components of the motivational-stimulating stage of self-guided work when teaching reading in a foreign language are considered. The steps, which make up really self-guided reading in a foreign language, and the factors, which stimulate students to realize them freely are described.
