PRINCIPLES AND TECHNIQUES OF TEXT LAKUNA COMPENSATION (BY THE MATERIAL OF FRENCH TRANSLATIONS OF I. A. BUNIN WORKS)

Abstract. The article by the material of the French translations of I. A. Bunin’s works considers the phenomenon of text lacuna, originated from the "transition" of the text from one linguistic culture to another and related to the presence of original vernacular and folk elements as essential characteristics of writer’s idiostyle in the text. The research is based on the notion of linguistic re-nomination as part of the theory of nomination with the use of translation classification of linguo-cultural realia. The author comes to the conclusion that the elimination of text lacuna is an essential condition for the attainment of equivalence between the original text and the text of translation.
