ROOTS OF TOLSTOI’S "DIALECTIC OF SOUL" IN RUSSIAN AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL TRADITION (THE XI TH-XVII TH CENTURIES)

Abstract. The author considers the problem of forming the psychological branch of the Old Russian literature of the XI th-XVII th centuries in connection with the development of autobiographical tendencies that found higher development in L. Tolstoi’s trilogy, analyzes the outstanding monuments of the Old Russian literature that came from the pen of Monomakh, Daniil Zatochnik, Afanasii Nikitin, Ivan the Terrible, Habakkuk, etc.; and tells that the elements of artistic analysis originated in the Russian literature, and they were represented by the Terrible as "the urelements of psychoanalysis" and by Habakkuk – as the beginning of the personal worldview.
