CHARACTERS TYPOLOGY IN M. GOR''KII’S STORIES IN THE 1890S: ON QUESTION OF ARTIST’S STYLE ORIGINALITY

Abstract. The author considers one of the aspects of Maxim Gor'kii’s style in the stories of the 1890s – the image of a man and the methods of its creation, basing on content and formal criteria describes two types of a hero (hero-"child" and hero-"animal"), reveals the features of their structure, and tells that the above mentioned types are formed gradually, growing from synthetic images presented in earlier stories "The Heart of a Beggar" and "My Travelling Companion".
