LINGUISTIC LOCAL HISTORY RESEARCHES IN TOPONYMY OF THE REPUBLIC OF TATARSTAN

Abstract. The author considers the theoretical and practical issues of regional toponymy in modern linguistics, researches the geographical names of highland part of the Republic of Tatarstan in historical-linguistic aspects, subjects them to contrast-comparative, grammatical analysis, and pays special attention to the classification of their word formation and revelation of etymology of villages names with opaque semantics.
