THEORETICAL PREREQUISITES OF COGNITIVE-LINGUISTIC ANALYSIS OF VERBAL SEMANTICS (BY MATERIAL OF MODERN ENGLISH LANGUAGE)

Abstract. The article considers the main approaches to the verbal semantics description serving as prerequisites to its cognitive-linguistic analysis. The traditional semantic approach is added with the theses of the psycho-linguistic theory which in turn is extended with the cognitive-semantic description of the verbal word semantics. While considering a number of the cognitive semantics sphere theories the author concludes that the prototypic theory and frame semantics answer the opportunity of the verb categorization and cognitive-semantic modeling.
