SPHERES OF ARGOT FUNCTIONING IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article reveals the content of the notion "English argot". The author analyzes the problem of argot exceeding the scope of use by only criminal subculture. The main spheres of the English argot functioning including publicistic, literary texts, and song lyrics are described. Considerable attention is paid to identifying the specific features of the English argot in each sphere of functioning.
