BETWEEN ADJECTIVE AND ADVERB (ON GRAMMATICAL STATUS OF INTRODUCTORY WORDS ENDING IN - НО)

Abstract. The article considers the problem of determining the grammatical status of introductory words ending in -но . The data of dictionaries and academic grammars are analyzed; the different points of view on the morphological and syntactic characteristics of these linguistic units are compared. Studying the functioning of lexemes ending in -он, the author substantiates the necessity of introducing the notion "modus predicative". These lexemes are etymologically related to adjectives and adverbs, but they differ from them by non-descriptive semantics and textual sphere of functioning. The article suggests a system-grammatical and textual analysis of the modus predicate "indisputable".
