THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS OF INTERNET LINGUISTICS

Abstract. The article reveals the essence of relatively new direction in modern applied linguistics – internet linguistics, which requires careful consideration in modern linguistic situation. The author briefly describes the prerequisites for the separation of this direction; the methods, objectives, object, subject of internet linguistics; the problems which linguists encounter, and may encounter in the future; mentions the terminological system of internet linguistics; singles out the main stages in the formation of this direction in modern applied linguistics; and gives the definition of object domain.
