METAPHYSICAL TRAITS IN CYCLE "AMORETTI" BY E. SPENCER

Abstract. The author analyzes the cycle of sonnets "Amoretti" by the Elizabethan poet Edmund Spenser, considers the cycle as a work that united the ideals of late humanism and the stylistic tendencies of metaphysics, and researches the features of the poetic text and characteristics (the drama of situation, the tension of feelings, metaphorization, the conception of time, the contrast of "sublime love" and "fleshly love"), which allow identifying the metaphysical world outlook of the poet.
