ETHNIC CULINARY PHENOMENON IN ASIAN-AMERICAN LITERATURE (BY EXAMPLE OF AMY TAN’S NOVEL "THE JOY LUCK CLUB")

Abstract. The authors consider ethnic culinary phenomenon in the Asian-American literature by the example of the novel "The Joy Luck Club" by the Chinese-American writer Amy Tan, pay special attention to the manifestation of the Chinese culinary traditions in the Chinese-American literature (in the mentioned novel), which become a key to the revelation of the national and/or ethnic background of the writer and heroes, and come to the conclusion that culinary phenomenon in a work of fiction plays an identification function.
