Abstract. The author discusses the word-formative structure of the nouns ending in -истик/а/ , tells that their ambiguous qualification from word-formative perspective raises the problem of the morphemic status of the final -истик/а/ : whether this sound sequence is the combination of two simple suffixes -ист and -ик/а/ or it is a single word-formative formant; and also considers the functioning of the suffix -истик/а/ in language and speech.
