ON QUESTION OF SYMBOL AS CONVENTIONAL SIGN OF SPECIAL KIND

Abstract. The author considers the features of symbol that distinguish it from conventional sign and the name of an abstract notion, and basing on the position that concept as a cultural phenomenon is the signified of a symbol reveals the structural and functional properties of symbol, making it a sign of special kind: the pan-relativity of concept, as opposed to the separate nature of notion, provides the endless possibilities of semiotic combination and the depth of understanding the world complexity.
