PROPER NAMES FUNCTIONING AS COMMON ONES AS EVALUATING CATEGORIZATION MEANS

Abstract. The author reveals the problem of the evaluation potential of the appellatives formed from proper names, tells that the use of cognitive-matrix analysis in the work allows considering in detail the features of the evaluating categorization of appellatives within the framework of cognitive approach to language, comes to the conclusion that appellatives can act as evaluating words, by which the evaluation of a person’s personality traits can be realized in speech, and adds that evaluation can be either positive or negative and can be a part of a lexical unit meaning formed as a result of appellativation.
