NAUGHTY STORIES BY HONORE DE BALZAC: BASIC IMAGES AND MOTIVES

Abstract. The author considers the basic motives and images of Naughty Stories by Honore de Balzac, explains the certain set of motives and images by the writer's address to the Renaissance inspired with the spirit of freedom and optimism, and shows that an active hero, who may be a female, the crucial role of quick wit and intelligence, the protection of natural impulses and feelings, as well as vividly expressed anticlerical character - all these are the components of a classical renaissance novel that appear in Naughty Stories by Honore de Balzac.
