MAP AND TERRITORY - MICHEL HOUELLEBECQ'S NOVEL-PASTICHE

Abstract. The author considers the genre peculiarities of Michel Houellebecq's last novel Map and Territory. The analysis of isotopic relations in the novel text leads to the necessity of its intertextual interpretation basing on Jean Baudrillard's philosophical ideas, which Michel Houellebecq parodies along with some post-modernist conceptions that allows attributing this novel to pastiche genre. As the result of the research the author comes to the conclusion that Michel Houellebecq doesn't break the thematic unity of his creativity and faces the reader with the same social and moral problems as in his previous works.
