O. M. SOMOV'S NARRATIVES: FANTASY AND GARDEN FIGURATIVENESS

Abstract. The article reveals the basic functions of garden topos in the poetics of Russian fantastic narrative of the first third of the XIXth century by the example of O. Somov's narratives. Garden topos is determined as an important category of the artistic world of a literary work reflecting the world of popular consciousness and the author's conception of world view. Garden space is analyzed in correlation with the toposes of vegetable garden, cottage, house, forest and castle, in the interaction with the categories of comic and tragic.
