Abstract. The article tackles the structuring role of the compositional technique of opposition in the narrative Cat-and-mouse. Contrast technique is brightly expressed both in the narrative plot and in G. Grass's style: the manifestation of the antinomy of his creative thinking is the combination of two elements: tragical and farcical. The esthetic regularity of the writer's artistic world is the usage of oxymoron structural schemes while creating personages images.
