MENTAL SPACES STRAIGHTENING WITHIN THE LIMITS OF MERGING THEORY (BY THE EXAMPLES OF METAPHORICAL STATEMENTS IT'S WRITTEN ON SOMEBODY'S FACE AND SOMEBODY'S HEAD WORKS WELL)

Abstract. In the article the main ideas of the new approach of cognitive semantics to metaphor considering - merging theory - are revealed. This approach was the continuation of the conceptual metaphor theory developed by G. Lakoff and M. Johnson (1980) and is based on conceptual integration schemes straightening. Reasoning from the merging theory theoretical statement, the author illustrates its realization by the examples from her data base.
