FUNCTIONING OF THE ENGLISH VERB OF WIDE SEMANTICS "BE" IN THE SYSTEM OF LANGUAGE

Abstract. In the article the problem of the correlation of the semantic structure of the word "to be" and its substantial nucleus is discussed. By means of the semantic analysis of dictionary definitions this semantic nucleus is determined. The thesis that on the language system level this verb is represented by one wide meaning is put forward.
