LEO TOLSTOY’S AND THE SLAVOPHILES’ CONCEPTIONS OF MAN

Abstract. The main content of the article is a comparative analysis of the conceptions of man suggested by Leo Tolstoy and the Slavophiles. In the course of the analysis not only their common views are revealed, but also characteristic distinctive features. Considerable attention is paid to the writer’s position, his religious and ethical teaching about man. The key categories in Leo Tolstoy’s doctrine are concepts "God", "love", "morality", "conscience", "faith", he creates his anthropological ontology as a doctrine of man’s spiritual life.
