Abstract. The structure of religion includes religious consciousness, religious activity and religious organizations (orderly groups of people, who share religious rites). There are various types of religious associations: Church (confession), denomination, sect, cults and new religious movements. The article reveals essence and main features of three most controversial religious associations: sects, cults and new religious movements.
