CLASSIFICATION OF HIGHLY SPECIALIZED FISHING VOCABULARY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE OF CORNWALL COUNTY

Abstract. This article studies the vocabulary of the English language devoted to a traditional occupation - fishing. The choice of the object of the research is due to the fact that fishing is one of the basic concepts in the national linguistic picture of the world. The most common method of studying linguistic units is the method of lexical-semantic field. The authors of this article conduct an analysis of the lexical-semantic field "Fishing" of the English language on the basis of the highly specialized fishing vocabulary of Cornwall County, where fishing occupies a special place for historical reasons. The analysis is based on historical, stylistic, etymological and semantic linguistic features.
