Abstract. The article examines one of thematic trends in the first professional Mansi composer V. Shestalov’s activity. In particular, the paper considers "Bear Games", which became a subject of scientific research and were artistically represented in the composer’s works. The author concludes that his perception of this "holiday" developed from musicological interpretation to art analysis and reached the research area of culturology. The culturological approach to "Bear Games" interpretation manifests itself most clearly in V. Shestalov’s scientific activity.
