Abstract. New methodology for conducting practical classes by the example of investigating the single-phase transformer characteristics is suggested. For better students’ understanding of the material under study the authors substantiate the combination of theoretical and experimental research of the characteristics of the transformer at one 4-hour lesson. The article can be useful to teachers while studying real equipment by students in the conditions of classroom hours reduction.
