ENGLISH AND RUSSIAN LANGUAGES IN THE CONTEXT OF GLOBALIZATION

Abstract. The article analyzes the role of the English language in the epoch of globalization, its rapid spread as an international one. Both positive and negative influence of globalization on the Russian and ethnic languages of the Russian Federation is examined. The author draws a conclusion that the high level of the self-sufficiency of the Russian language and its status don’t let the English language claim the place of the "second native language" for the peoples of Russia.
