Abstract. The article examines the influence of stress and synharmonism on the syntagmatic division of a phrase in the Kazakh language. The specific of the prosodic arrangement of a phrase in the Kazakh language involves the fact that, contrary to the Russian language, synharmonism serves here as a prosodic dominant. The paper argues that synharmonism influences the stress while segmenting speech stream into syntagmas. The stress is considered as a phrasal emphasis of a word - the so called rhythmical stress when in speech stream not every word is stressed but a rhythmical group on the whole.
Key words and phrases: сингармонизм, ударение, фразовая выделенность, казахский язык, синтагма, синтагматическое членение, просодика, сегментация речевого потока, ритмическая группа, ритмическое ударение, интонация, пауза, synharmonism, stress, phrasal emphasis, Kazakh language, syntagma, syntagmatic division, prosody, segmentation of speech stream, rhythmical group, rhythmical stress, intonation, pause
