Abstract. The article presents the results of the author’s study of the role of mathematical morphology elements in assessing the levels of pain. As the main markers the researcher considers the examined before fractal dimensions of the joint space, invariance and textural characteristics according to the GLCM protocol. The paper substantiates and actually proves the hypothesis that these characteristics are linked to the main implications of gonarthrosis and can be used as independent diagnostic visual markers of the disease.
