FUNDAMENTAL VALUES IN THE STRUCTURE OF MENTALITY OF PRISONERS OF THE GULAG

Abstract. The article deals with the theme of the principal values of the GULAG prisoners. The objective of the research is the characteristic of principal values and the motivational peculiarities of behavior. General and individual values based on the recollections of prisoners themselves are highlighted. The conclusion is made that not the content of values helps survive in extreme conditions but the degree of commitment to them.
