TRADITIONAL RELIGIOUS CULTURE OF SETTLEMENTS OF THE NORTHWESTERN PART OF THE KUBAN REGION (ETHNOLINGUISTIC ASPECT)

Abstract. The article gives a fragmentary description of Orthodox views in Cossack villages and khutors of the northwestern part of the Kuban region. The author focuses mainly on holidays of the church calendar and family rituals. The study is carried out by the material collected during a field expedition in 2016. The analysis of the documented ethnolinguistic data led to the conclusion that, despite the significant role of Orthodoxy in spiritual life of the Kuban population, Christian values ??in the national consciousness are closely connected with the mythological discourse. As illustrative material the paper gives lexemes of the folk calendar terminology and fragments of dialectal texts retold by the informants and written down by the gatherers.
