SEMANTICS OF ONOMATOPOEIC WORDS IN THE "MANAS" EPIC

Abstract. The article examines semantics of imitative words and their realization in the context. The author argues that imitative words are a semantic phenomenon, which broadens the sphere of word usage and points out that imitative words or sounds pronounced by people or produced by animals have been used in folklore from the earliest times. These linguistic units figuratively, artistically represent the ancient epoch and are essential in stylization.
