IDEAS ABOUT VISUAL TEACHING IN WORKS BY N. I. PIROGOV

Abstract. Nikolai Ivanovich Pirogov’s contribution to development of the visual teaching theory is revealed basing on the analysis of the texts corpus. It is shown that Pirogov was one of the first, who described the pedagogical discourse of visualization application problems in primary education: the need for taking into account the age-appropriate features of children’s cognitive activity; provision of colleges with visual means; suggestion of new forms, methods and techniques of teaching; and special training for teachers, as well as organization of experience exchange in the sphere of visualization.
