Abstract. The combination of controlled monitoring and controlled visibility is a necessary condition for modeling the semantic problem solution with the help of an electronic textbook. The use of an electronic textbook as a means of controlled monitoring is focused on stage-by-stage monitoring of the process of the semantic problem solution, and its use as a means of controlled visibility is focused on visual modeling of an object of study, i.e. a text, at simultaneous modeling of the student’s action on this object transformation.
