Abstract. The article considers an integrated approach to the study of the discipline "Engineering Graphics" and the formation of professional competences on the basis of projection drawing basic course. A detailed study of the method of orthogonal projection, which underlies the drawing of graphic works, allows doing and reading technical drawings in all industries in accordance with the requirements of the standards. The features of the projection drawing course are its logical structure and sequence that promotes the development of professional engineering thinking on the basis of technical literacy.
