Abstract. The article examines means for the formation of sociocultural competence as one of the components of communicative competence while teaching French. The author pays special attention to the necessity for using relevant video-materials at foreign language lessons. The paper introduces the classification of exercises used while working with authentic video-material, reveals the content of the suggested video-course, presents didactic materials. The researcher identifies and describes the typical features of each stage of work on certain chapters of the analyzed manual.
