HISTORICAL REGULARITY IN INTERPRETATION OF THE RUSSIAN POSITIVISTIC HISTORIOGRAPHY (THE SECOND HALF OF THE XIX CENTURY)

Abstract. The article is devoted to one of the major problems of the definition of the subject of history - historical regularity. The understanding of this issue by the leading representatives of the Russian positivistic historiography is analyzed. The author concludes that historians-positivists aimed to find the objective basis of historical process, but nevertheless they highlighted the qualities of human nature, which led to the denial of historical laws and the assertion of the fact that society develops according to its internal sociological laws.
