AESTHETICS OF PICTORIAL TROPOS AND STYLE THEORIES OF THE LATE XIX - XX CENTURY: EXPERIENCE OF PROBLEM EXPLICATION

Abstract. The article accents the significance of A. Riegl’s theory for the study of stylistic "tinges". The importance of the processes of the emancipation of artistic expression from the representational form studied by H. W?lfflin is highlighted. The paper points out the mechanism of pictorial tropos formation discovered by E. Panofsky. The author concludes about the need for developing interdisciplinary approaches to the problem of allegory in art.
