Abstract. The article reveals the informational capabilities and significance of personnel documents as a historical source formed during the activity of the cells of the Russian Communist Party (of Bolsheviks) of the Soviet workers-and-peasants’ militia of Tyumen province in the period of 1919-1922. It is stated that the examined sources confirm the fact of strong party influence on personnel policy in the institutions of the Soviet workers-and-peasants’ militia of Tyumen province. The sources say that special attention was paid to the militiamen’s biographies, especially to their activity during the period of the revolutions and the Civil War.
