PHOTOMETRIC DATA APPROXIMATION WITH ONE VARIABLE TRIGONOMETRIC POLYNOMIALS

Abstract. The authors consider the problem of the approximation of the point source light intensity using trigonometric polynomials. Initial data for approximation are the results of photometric experiments. The solution of the problem allows one to describe the source light distribution by one analytic expression throughout the entire range of angles. The approximation method is based on the least-squares method and dropping components with low coefficients. The error of the method is estimated.
