ROLE OF FOLKLORE ELEMENTS IN E. KOLYADINA’S NOVEL "FLOWER CROSS"

Abstract. The article reveals the role of folklore elements in the modern Russian prose by the example of E. Kolyadina’s novel "Flower Cross". The authors examine the peculiarities of structural and motif borrowings from folklore, as well as study the interrelation of the genre peculiarities of the novel and the selection of methods and means from the Russian folklore. Particular attention is paid to the specificity of the implementation and functioning of skomorokh and holy fool images in the novel.
